Ross Optical Proves to be 20-40% Lower Cost than Major Catalogs
May 3, 2016
In dozens of recent multi-element and production volume quotes for standard optics and micro optics, Ross Optical pricing has proved to be 20-40% lower than Edmund Optical, Thorlabs, and other major catalog companies. In fact, in an industry where slow quoting is a frequent challenge, Ross Optical has been able to deliver a lower-cost quote for the same quality lens as much as a week sooner than competitors.
Many customers turn to Ross Optical after prototyping with a competitor for a quote on production volume lenses. We are able to part match against competitors including Edmund Optics, Newport, and Thorlabs, and we are happy to second source.
Browse our catalog for any upcoming production volume optics needs.

Filter from Ross Optical Used In Prototype for Safer Museum Lighting
July 11, 2014
University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) News:
It all began with a problem, one that Chemistry Professor Carl Dirk, Ph.D., knew he could solve.
The scientist – whose specialty is utilizing the power of computer simulation to perform virtual experiments and solve chemistry-related problems – describes himself as interested in arcane optical processes and materials. Upon reading a white paper from the Getty Conservation Institute several years ago, Dirk realized that this very specific interest could be applied to the institute’s “What if?” list of wishes for safer museum lighting.
“Upon reading the white paper, I realized immediately that one of these wish list ideas that appeared to be impossible was actually achievable,” Dirk said. “I worked out the computational theory for the problem, and Ed Ross, owner of Ross Optical in El Paso, graciously manufactured a prototype filter for free.”

Customer Satisfaction Continues to Climb
March 28, 2014
Ross Optical Industries’ 2013 Customer Satisfaction Survey results were even higher than 2012, with many customers commenting on our quality of service and quick response to issues and questions.
Customers were asked to rate Ross in various performance categories using a rating scale of 1 through 5, with 5 being the best. We received an average score of at least 4 in all categories, with 5’s in Quality, Customer Service, and Overall Performance.
Survey respondents had some excellent things to say. Here is just a sample:
- "The technical staff removed A/R coatings from a wedge for my application that depended upon reflection. Excellent service, many thanks."
- "We have always enjoyed working with Ross. Whenever there was a problem (which was not often) it was resolved quickly for any questions or requests from us."
- "Communication is excellent. All in all I have to say A+."
- "Customer service and knowledge is very good."
- "Keep doing what you are doing."
We are extremely pleased by the results of this survey and plan to only improve customer satisfaction going forward. New developments such as our in-progress ISO certification will help us continue to grow and serve our customers while offering the high level of quality and performance they have already come to expect. As we like to say, "We are only successful if we make you successful."
Ross Optical Introduces Catalog Aspheric Lenses
