Endoscope Testing Equipment

Ross Optical’s test & measurement instruments, including the EndoScan™ Lens Tester and EndoLume™ Endoscopic Light Meter, can be used to test and verify the optical quality of both rigid and flexible endoscopes. The types of rigid scopes that can be tested include laparoscopes, arthroscopes, bronchoscopes, and cystoscopes, which may contain rod lenses or distal end optical components.

The EndoScan™ Lens Tester checks for endoscope lens damage in seconds, analyzing issues such as cracked relay lenses, moisture in the optical system, dirt on surfaces, and adhesive degradation. Equipped with a precision glass imaging lens, it provides a clear view of an endoscope's interior, accepting all DIN standard endoscope eyepieces. Its locking eyepiece attachment prevents possible damage during testing, and it adapts to standard endoscopic video cameras for documentation.

The EndoLume™ Endoscopic Light Meter is designed to identify the true source of illumination issues by quantitatively measuring light output from endoscopic light sources across all major brands and types, as well as light transmission through fiberoptic light cables with Storz, Wolf, ACMI, and Olympus connectors. It also assesses light transmission through optical fibers in both flexible and rigid endoscopes, making it an essential tool for complete optical system diagnostics.

For illumination, the Endoscope Lightsource L700 LED from Lighthouse Imaging offers a bright, white light designed for testing endoscopic systems. Its compact, multi-turret design makes the L700 versatile for system illumination testing when paired with the EndoLume light meter.

Ross Optical's test & measurement equipment is typically used for QC/QA testing during scope manufacturing, as well as for scope service and repair, and is widely employed in the clinical and biomedical engineering departments of hospitals and surgical centers. All Ross Optical endoscope quality test & measurement instruments can support a hospital’s preventive maintenance (PM) program, ensuring compliance with the Joint Commission’s standards for managing scopes in diagnostic medical equipment inventory (Elements of Performance – EC.02.01.01, EC.02.04.01, EC.02.04.03).

The EndoScan™ Rigid Scope Lens Tester quickly detects endoscope lens damage, analyzing issues in rigid endoscope lenses such as cracked relay lenses, moisture in the optical system, surface dirt, and adhesive degradation. Equipped with a precision glass imaging lens, it provides a clear view of the endoscope's interior, accepting all DIN standard eyepieces. The locking eyepiece attachment prevents damage during testing, and it easily adapts to standard endoscopic video cameras for thorough documentation.

The L700 LED Light Source from Lighthouse Imaging delivers bright, white light specifically for testing endoscopic systems. Its compact, multi-turret design makes the L700 a versatile light source for system illumination testing, especially when used with the EndoLume™ light meter.

The EndoLume™ Endoscopic Light Meter identifies the true source of illumination problems in endoscopic systems by quantitatively measuring the light output from endoscopic light sources across all major brands and types. It also assesses light transmission through fiberoptic light cables with all connector types, as well as through optical fibers in both flexible and rigid endoscopes, ensuring accurate and reliable illumination diagnostics.
